Michael E. Healy
Mike is responsible for Gardner Standard’s investment activities, including in targeted areas of manufacturing, aerospace & defense and industrial services. Prior to founding Gardner Standard LLC in 2009, Mike worked as an investment professional at Goldner Hawn Johnson & Morrison Inc. and as a corporate lawyer at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP.
Mike holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Harvard Law School.
Craig H. Mell
Craig provides oversight of the financial reporting and accounting functions at Gardner Standard’s companies and is responsible for a variety of additional portfolio management functions, including operational improvement initiatives and implementing best practices. Craig also is involved in investment sourcing and due diligence activities. Prior to joining Gardner Standard, Craig served in leadership roles in finance and operations management with companies experiencing rapid growth, integrating acquisitions, and executing turnaround initiatives.
Craig holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and master of accountancy degree from the University of North Dakota.
Kathy M. Sturgeon
Kathy is responsible for operations and administrative functions of Gardner Standard and also participates in investment sourcing activities. Prior to joining Gardner Standard, Kathy worked for an investment banking firm as their Operations Manager for over ten years.
Kathy holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Montana – Missoula College.
Phillip C. Johnson
Phil is responsible for certain investment sourcing activities and portfolio management functions. Phil joined Gardner Standard in 2013 and served as Vice President from 2015 to 2017. Thereafter, he founded Chace Equity, LLC, a private investment firm focused on small companies within driving distance of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. Phil serves on the board of Line Finders, LLC. Phil previously worked as an investment professional at SVB Financial and Churchill Capital, and started his career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Phil holds an undergraduate degree in Finance and Real Estate from Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
